Awarded Federal Stimulus Funding Update

August 30, 2010

In March MVTV Wireless was happy to announce that we were awarded funding through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.  Since then we have been working diligently to provide further various documentation required to obtain the funding. We are in the final stages of review and should be receiving the first portion of our stimulus funding soon.

There are 3 main sections to our stimulus project.

  • Upgrade the current system: The plan calls for upgrading 11 current access points of which we have already completed 6.
  • Add new access points: The expansion plan consists of adding 34 new access points and almost doubling our coverage area to over 20,000 square miles. Since January 1st we have already installed 3 new access points and have agreements in place for several more. More information on looking for new access points.
  • Service new customers: Lastly the plan calls for adding an additional minimum 1500 new customers to our expanding system. We have achieved 10% of that goal by adding 150 new customers in just a few months.

We are excited to be able to bring better internet choices to new areas allowing us to provide service to un-served and under-served residents in rural Southwest Minnesota.
