Future Expanded TV Programming
October 21, 2011
Recently we upgraded our TV system to a digital signal. This allows us to bring better and more programming to current and future customers. We’ve started with a basic lineup and are now looking to create a new expanded programming lineup in the near future. Your opinion in determining this lineup is important to us. Please take a few minutes to tell us what your favorite TV channels are (you do not need to be a current MVTV customer). Pick as many channels as you’d like. This will help us determine the best possible expanded programming lineup.
System upgrades are on the way
October 11, 2011
Over the next 12 months, MVTV Wireless will be upgrading and changing our older “direct” internet system. Only customers that get their internet signal directly from our main Granite Falls tower and have a modem will be part of this upgrade.
Service from the main tower will be divided into 7 overall transmit sites: Granite Falls, Clarkfield, Cottonwood, Marshall, Minneota, Canby and Montevideo. By dividing the transmission into 7 towers and upgrading the equipment, MVTV will increase the overall capacity for future growth and enhance the online experience for voice, video and data. Each Direct customer will receive new outdoor equipment and Cat 5 wiring to your router or computer connection at no charge to you. There is no need to contact MVTV at this time; our customer service representatives will contact you to schedule an appointment for this upgrade.

Summer was busy for MVTV
September 8, 2011
Can’t believe summer is coming to a close and the kids have headed back to school. I’m sure most people would say they’ve had a busy summer. Well here at MVTV we were certainly busy too!
Since May 1st we’ve installed 14 new access points covering areas from Litchfield on south to Lakefield Minnesota. We are now covering almost 20,000 square miles of West and Southwest Minnesota. MVTV still has 3 more new access points to install to complete the 34 new sites for the stimulus package we received in 2010.
July rolled in with huge damaging storms causing widespread damage to customers’ farms and homes. Thanks to the extra effort of our technicians, we managed to complete 275 repair requests within 14 days, restoring internet to our growing customer base.
Thankfully we started the summer with 2 new technicians. We welcomed Mitch Grams and Danny Olmstead to our MVTV crew in May and June. Both have been on the road full-time, doing a great job with installations and repairs. We are now bringing on 2 more technicians with Jake Ellis having just started with us and another to start at the beginning of October. This will give MVTV 7 full-time technicians to handle our customer’s needs. To meet the growing demands in the office we’ve also hired Lindsey Kubesh as a new Customer Service Representative. We are excited to have everyone on board with MVTV and look forward to continued growth.

The MVTV Board of Directors has decided to convert the television operation from analog to digital. This conversion will start the week of July 18 and be completed by August, 22, 2011. Until the conversion you will continue to receive the signals and programming as you have in the past. When the conversion is complete the analog stations will be turned off (with the exception of Fox Sports North changed to channel 69 and KARE 11 on channel 67) and the new stations will be all digital. To receive the new digital signals you will need a digital TV set or a digital set-top box. Your antenna and cables currently in use for the analog signals should work fine with the new digital service. There is no difference between an analog antenna or a digital antenna.
Once we are on the air with the digital signals you will have to perform a “channel scan” on your digital TV. If you want to use your conventional analog TV you will need a set-top box to view the new digital stations. A set-top box can be purchased at most retailers or MVTV will sell them for $50.00 plus tax. The set-top box will have to perform a “channel scan” to find all of the new digital signals. Once scanned you will enter the channel numbers for the channels you want to watch just like before. If you have a VCR it can be used with a set-top box. Newer DVRs will have a digital tuner built in.
The new digital transmission will allow you to watch your favorite programs in “high definition” with Dolby sound. This will be a great experience when viewed and listened to on a HDTV large screen TV! The proposed program line-up that you will be able to view is as follows. The final program list could change. In the future we plan on adding more channels. Enjoy!!
MVTV will charge $12.95 plus tax per month for the New Service Package. MVTV plans to expand the Service Package offerings in 2012. This would include more High Definition and Standard Definition programming.
