Q. What about spam and virus protection from the internet?
A. MVTV has added a service called Postini to filter out spam and virus's before they reach your email inbox. MVTV has added this service at no extra charge to subscribers!!
Q. Isn't this just another satellite cable service?
A. No! MVTV Wireless is a local nonprofit member owned corporation that broadcasts the best cable and regional channels from it's broadcast tower located 1 mile Southwest of Granite Falls. Signals are sent directly to our members homes where it is received on UHF and MMDS antennas (typically placed on the roof).
Q. What about the local broadcast stations? Will I need an additional antenna to receive these stations?
A. No. MVTV Wireless has agreements with regional broadcasters and rebroadcasts the local broadcast stations. There are no additional monthly costs. MVTV carries Minneapolis affiliates for NBC, ABC, CBS and FOX so you can have local news, weather and sports.
Q. What about reliability and weather conditions? Will my reception be affected?
A. MVTV Wireless uses the most reliable frequencies authorized by the Federal Communication Commission. Heavy rain, snow and light ice buildup have little effect on reception. Rare atmospheric conditions can effect all forms of wireless communications and broadcasts, including MVTV's. However, our experience has shown that these conditions happen very rarely, and only for short periods of time.
Q. What about power outages? Will my MVTV Wireless service go out during these times?
A. MVTV Wireless' broadcast facilities are fully protected from power outages with uninterruptible power supplies and standby power generation. Even though we do our best to prevent power outages at out broadcast facilities, we can still experience failures from time to time. Each channel, however, is broadcast separately from others so it should only effect an individual channel, not our entire lineup.
Q. What does MVTV charge for service calls?
A. MVTV normally charges a $25.00 minimum service fee
for an on site service call. This will cover mileage, repair time and most
equipment to repair the problem. Examples of repairs are reinstalling PC settings,
enabling network cards, resetting modems or routers, replacing fittings or
cables, or replacing power supplies, modems or radios. MVTV will continue
to provide service and products at the lowest cost possible to our subscribers.
Q. Does MVTV have Wireless Routers available to purchase?
A. Yes you can purchase a wireless router through MVTV. We carry different models to suit the needs for different homes. Call the office to purchase a router for additional PC hookups and have a technician install this for you. 320-564-4807
