Reaching People in Rural Minnesota One Tower at a Time
March 24, 2010
“How do you decide where to place a tower?”
Our MVTV Wireless customers help us decide where we need to expand. We base our expansion on customer demand. When we get requests from customers, we go to work deciding what access point will work best for them.
When determining new access points, we look for locations that have 100 foot or higher points. In cities this means we usually are able to work with city policy to be able to use water towers for access points, in exchange for monthly rent. In more rural areas, we use grain legs on farm sites. In these cases we are usually able to arrive at a mutually beneficial agreement that supplies the farm site with a discounted rate on their high speed Internet access in exchange for another access point for MVTV Wireless customers.
Once three or four customers within an area express their desire for service in their area, we help out by adding another access point and the word begins to spread. Soon we are helping many people in an area that was previously experiencing an unmet need.
MVTV Wireless has some access points that have 75 – 100 customers! Our average access point has probably 20 – 30 customers. Click here to see a map of our current service area, and contact us directly to find out how we can help you.
