The Odin Craft Mill a great example of how our rural SW MN communities are reinventing themselves in order to remain relevant.
According to their website:
Over 150 Quality Crafters and Artisans from six states combine to make the Odin Craft Mill a destination for shoppers. Five weekends each year thousands of visitors shop for handcrafted gifts and one-of-a-kind items.
Some of the items are displayed in an authentic 1923 feed mill. Walk through the vintage grinding and mixing rooms with original equipment. See the old drive through with the over-head hoist and old warehouse. More art and gifts are displayed floor to ceiling throughout an original 1917 Montgomery Ward Home and 1927 Gordon Van Tine Barn. All with original floors, wall paper and woodwork.
Make it a full day of fun with lunch in the dining warehouse.
Developing over the span of 14 years, it’s obvious a lot of hard work and dedication went into revitalizing these historic buildings. But as Nancy and her team know, it’s not just a ‘build it and they will come’ kind of situation. Odin is off the beaten path. So how do you get people to drive to Odin? Social Networking! The Odin Craft Mill FaceBook page is a fun and engaging site with almost 2,500 followers.
