Spotlight on Reinbows Inc., Windom MN… Join their Halloween Celebration Oct 31st 4:00 – 6:00PM

“There is something about the outside of a horse that is good for the inside of a man.” – Winston Churchill

Churchill said it best. Horses really do have a magical effect on people, just ask anyone involved in Reinbows, Inc. MVTV Wireless is proud to spotlight this very special non-profit program located out of Windom, MN. Since 2008, they have serviced the community through their horses. You’ll find them visiting senior centers, mentoring individuals, offering therapeutic riding and giving school seminars related to anti-bullying. But wait… it gets even better! All of this hard work, dedication and value to the community has been recognized and rewarded.

THANKS to Damon Weinandt, Administrative Director for sharing this news with us for our spot light blog:

“It is with excitement and great appreciation that Reinbows, Inc. was recently rewarded a $25,000.00 grant from the Robert and Helen Remick Charitable Foundation Trust!  This grant will help with the expansion of our equine therapy services to physically challenged individuals.  We have started the renovation plans for the indoor arena and in the upcoming months will be preparing for these new services! The Reinbows Board/Staff are enthusiastic for Remick’s support in helping expand our equine therapy services to this population:  how appropriate and wonderful to help these physically challenged people also “achieve healthy behaviors and reclaim the joy in their lives”! There will be more information forthcoming as these programs continue to expand!”

Join in the latest fun as the Reinbow horses dress in their Halloween finest and throw a parade! Then follow up with special Trick or Treating at the barn!

While you’re there, say ‘HI’ to the people that make this all possible:

Damon Weinandt is our Administrative Director and manages the day-to-day operations at Reinbows.  He received his BS in Business Administration from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls.  He has an excellent understanding of business, non-profit, and educational practices. He has worked in hotel management, hospital security, as an elementary paraprofessional, and served as the Director of the Windom Area Chamber of Commerce.  Damon is also involved in the community of Windom and is the acting Vice President of two local non-profits; the Cottonwood County Historical Society and Finding Windom.

Leah Jones is our Program Director and manages the horse activities during programs.  She received her BA in Equine Science from the University of Minnesota.  She became a certified trainer through the MinnesotaHorseTrainingAcademy and holds a judging card through Minnesota 4H. Leah has continued her education, attending several conferences specific to equine non-profit education.  “Anyone observing Reinbows’ programs can see Leah’s easy rapport with the kids; she provides a much needed role model.”

Reinbows Board of Directors has backgrounds in business, health and education.  As such, they bring a variety of areas of expertise to Reinbows.

Howdy!

What else has Reinbows Inc been up to?

Our fall tutoring program; “Reinbows Reads” which began on September 23rd and runs until November 15th is going quite well!  We have a good group of 15 students ranging in grades 4th-8th who meet every Monday & Wednesday in the media center after school to receive help with their homework, after a snack of course!  The kids can earn points during the sessions that can be used to visit Reinbows & the horses at the conclusion of the program.  Reinbows has a fantastic group of volunteers who help with the tutoring which is offered to the students at no cost.  It is evident the need for such programs as the kids enjoy the opportunity to learn with the tutors and meet with their peers.  Reinbows is grateful to the Windom Area High School and Middle School for their cooperation with such a worthwhile program!

More about Reinbows, Inc:

Reinbows Mission: Using equine-assisted activities to help people achieve healthy behaviors and reclaim the joy in their lives.

In a few words, Reinbows is committed to improving mental health and teaching people how to better succeed in their daily lives. We do this through school seminars, special events for senior citizens/youth/families, support groups, summer youth programs, and after-school tutoring, as well as community organization visits.

Reinbows’ values? We exist to serve.

There are a number of people who have no real access to therapy programs such as ours. Reinbows’ horses and trained personnel work amazingly well together to make individual lives better.

We serve with kindness, compassion, enthusiasm, persistence, joy, creative ideas, and integrity – all with supreme attention to quality. We provide a clean, safe environment, reliable, trained horses, and expert helping staff.

It’s very important to us… doing an excellent job as Reinbows makes a positive impact in people’s lives!
