About MVTV

We are a nonprofit, member-owned cooperative made up of members/stockholders, who pay a one-time fee of $50.00 per household.

Our mission:  to provide fast, reliable Broadband Internet and digital TV services at the lowest possible cost to our members.

Our goal: to promote the longevity and vitality of rural Southwestern Minnesota.

Our story: MVTV started on January 30, 1960. The Granite Falls boys high school basketball team was headed to the state playoffs. In an effort to cheer on their team and follow their journey to the state championships, a small group of volunteers decided to raise money in an attempt to bring the televised event to Granite Falls. Through their enthusiasm and determination, they were able to raise money and debut the first six channel television system to the rural Minnesota community.

This early television system started on the top of the Foshay Tower in Minneapolis, MN; with the signal traveling to Winthrop, then on to Morton and Bird Island, finally making its way to Granite Falls. While MVTV Wireless is well known for their technologically advanced fixed wireless Broadband Internet Service, to this day, we still provide television service to a 30 mile radius of the Granite Falls area.

In April of 1999, MVTV began providing it’s High Speed Broadband Wireless Internet Service. Just like with the TV service it started small. Transmitting a broadband wireless signal from our TV tower allowed MVTV to reach rural customers that couldn’t otherwise have access to internet. Today, MVTV Wireless provides fast, dependable and affordable fourth-generation broadband internet service using fixed wireless technology called Wimax (the gateway to LTE).

MVTV Wireless Broadband Internet Services have expanded to include over more than 30,000 square miles of Southwestern Minnesota. We are serving approximately 5,500 subscribers and continue to grow.

The MVTV Board of Directors welcomes you to become a member of our nonprofit member-owned corporation.
